This review was really hard for me to write. As all of my readers know, Iabsolutely loved this series from the moment I read the decription for the first one. However, it was also one of the mosstresdful series’s I’ve ever read. I was so invested in this story, in the characters and in the romances that I felt it all. I just love when I book pulls me into the story and makes me care! It is normally so hard for me to LOVE a book, but this one was just a lucky pick.
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows though. I honestly felt a little let down by this book. More precisely by the ending of this book. I think than 90% (Okay maybe more like 85%) of this book was pure perfection but the way she ended it all really left me disappointed. After everything we (yes I say we) had been through, for the story to end the way it did I was just shocked. I couldn’t believe she was going to end it like that. Then she threw in an epilogue which is great and all but I’m more about the details and I felt like I missed so much of the story! I don’t know what exactly I wanted from this book or how I wanted it to end, but I do know that is not what I wanted. That is not the ending it was supposed to have.
But I also love that I didn’t expect it. It didn’t work out perfectly. All was not forgiven! I love that Carter decided to be bold and do it her way. It would have been to easy to make it to where it was all sunshine and rainbows, but she didn’t. As much as I hate to admit it, I really admire that.
Ryiah and Darren. Alex and Ella. Blayne. Priscilla. Every single one of them takes me by surprise at some point during this book! It kept me turning the pages the entire time. I read it in two sitting and the only reason it was two was because I had to go to work. It was captivating and I HAD TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!
The Rebels vs The Corwn. Seems like an easy enough concept until someone is a part of the crown and is also a rebel. I really admire Ryiah and the fact that she was able to stand up for what was right and was able to piece everything together.
Overall the series is probably one of the best ones I’ve ever read. I highly recommend it to everyone! As a whole the series get 5 out of 5 stars from me. The Last Stand, however, would probably only get 4 out of 5 stars from me.
