As some of you know, I read pretty much everything. I read Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance, Contemporary, Erotica, Poetry, Historical, Mystery, and sometimes even a little Horror. (Though it is rare.) Well, I have recently started reading Marvel comic books. It was something that I had been thinking about doing for about a year and I finally took the plunge.
And I have to say I am loving it. I am flying through them, but I decided that since I am reading so many, I would start reviewing them on my blog. I don’t know if you guys would want to read something like that, but I hope so!
As for my reviews, they will be a little different than my book reviews. The biggest difference is that they will NOT be spoiler-free. While I will try not to reveal everything about an issue, this is a less formal review and more just my opinion on what happened in the issue.
I decided to start by joining the My Marvelous Year book club and follow their reading list. It starts in the early ’60s and takes us all the way to present-day comics. I thought this would be a good way to work my way through all the back issues without having to read EVERYTHING. I will probably read some other more recent comics along the way too.
I know at some point I want to read Runaways and Ms. Marvel. I’m not sure if they are on the reading list though.
I have also picked up a few graphic novels that I want to read, including Saga, Monstress, and Pumpkin Heads. So those will be coming too. I don’t know when, but hopefully soon! At this time I don’t have any DC comics or graphic novels on my To-Read list, but I’m sure I will get there eventually.
I will be posting a comic book or graphic novel review every Thursday so make sure you keep an eye out for them! (Maybe m

This is awesome news! It’s always worthwhile to review and write what you’re passionate about. Looking forward to your thoughts on Saga and Monstress when you get to them.

I honestly can’t say I enjoy comic books… I tried them for my reading challenge this year but I just didnt enjoy what I read that much! I think your approach is smart! If I’d put more thought into it, I might have enjoyed them more!

I understand that. I’ve read some in the past week that I didn’t particularly enjoy, but I’ve read others that I have really enjoyed. I am also trying out Graphic Novels and have found that I am loving them. It’s not for everyone, but I’m really glad I decided to try it.
