Journey Into Mystery (1952) #85 features the first appearance of Loki, the God of Mischief. We get to see him fight Thor. Loki! Loki has always been one of my favorite villains. I was so excited when I came across this comic and realized this was his Marvel introduction. I was not disappointed. Since I am getting used to the comics of the early sixty, I already knew what to expect.

The Loki in this story has a different back story than the Loki that we know today, but I was prepared for that since Thor’s background was different too. I did like that they kept the rivalry between the two though. I was also happy that we got to see Heimdall!

I think the best and worst part of this comic was Loki’s outfit. I was chuckling every time I saw it. At least it was still green? I don’t understand why his costume on the cover is so different than the one from inside though.
