The Lost Sisters by Holly Black

The Lost Sisters by Holly Black is A Folk of the Air novella that comes between The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King. The review will be spoiler-free for The Lost Sisters, but will have spoilers for The Cruel Prince.

Jude’s adventure as she battled against deceit, betrayal, and death in the Court of Elfhame was told. Now it is Taryn’s turn to tell her story.

In a letter, Taryn attempts to apologize and explain what was going on behind the scenes. Everyone has secrets. Even the good sister.

This novella was pretty short, only 50 pages long. I don’t have much to say about it except I enjoyed it. It took the form of a letter written by Taryn. It was really interesting to hear Taryn’s side of things since I disliked her so much in the first book. I don’t really know if my thoughts have changed on her, but it was a fun quick read. I am excited to see how things work out for her in The Wicked King.

I gave this novella 4 out of 5 stars. While it was a fun read, it did not seem necessary to the story. (Though I guess the side novellas rarely are.) I recommend it to anyone who is planning on or already has read this series!
