Arrogant Devil is a standalone romantic comedy by R.S. Grey. This review will be spoiler-free.
Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.
When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.
My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.
Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation. Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine. Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.
Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers. Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along. (Synopsis from Goodreads)
Hot and Hilarious. Summer heat mixes with sizzling chemistry in this slow-burn romance.
This has to be my favorite book by R.S. Grey. I have read quite a few by this author and they have all been really good, but they were never amazing. This one is! It is perfection. I would not change a single word in this book. The slow burn was starting to drive me insane, but it was so worth it.
Meredith and Jack. They are a swoon-worthy couple if I have ever come across one. They might not seem like it at first glance but they are perfect together. Meredith is coming out of an abusive marriage. I was really skeptical about a romance blowing so fast, but honestly, I loved it. Meredith is my favorite heroine that I have read by Grey. There is just so much depth to her. I didn’t once doubt that she was real.
Jack is an arrogant devil. There is no doubt about that, but once he welcomes someone into his heart, he could never let them go. I fell for him in an instant. Now I’m not going to lie. There were several times I wanted to slap him, but I still can’t help but love him.
The side characters in this book were also amazing. Edith and Alfred were my two favorites. Edith is the southern grandma that everyone dreams of. She is lively and hilarious. She isn’t scared to stick her nose in other people’s business or drag them out by their ear. She is life goals. And Alfred. The sweet, lovable golden retriever. Enough said right?
Cedar Creek is where I want to live! It is the perfect country small town. I could picture it perfectly. Everything from the people spending their Saturday in the town square to the little diner. It was a homey, welcoming town. It was the perfect background for Blue Stone Ranch.
I flew through these pages. I sat down and started reading it at work. I was very annoyed when I had to put it down and actually do my job. I am positive I would have finished it in one sitting if I had started it at home.
I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars. I loved every second of it and HIGHLY recommend it to all the romance lovers out there.
